Time to blow the dust off this thing...

I was going through my pictures and realized I needed more portraits for my portfolio, since I want to specialize more in portraiture and creative/artistic shots more so than events. So I called up my friend and got him to dress up a bit for a couple pictures. These were pretty close to impossible shots, considering that I had to focus on a subject I essentially could not see, and figuring out the lighting was guess and test, since I was dealing with the very extremes of light and dark. The result came out a little different than I expected... Worse in one case, but better in the other.

In this shot, I was going for the mysterious look... Would have been best if I could have the feet walking, but given the exposure time and having to manually focus for this, that would have been impossible. But, this is the best of the bunch. I had a couple with face shown (illuminated) but even with some tweaking, I still feel they're rubbish.

This one I am pretty proud of. I actually did not have to do much to this in post, save for some noise reduction and a little bit of color burning on the face. The colors are weird, hosted on Picasa, but pop a bit more in Photoshop. I still have yet to figure out which color profile is which in Picasa.
